In the Skincare-Makeup Hybrids Application Domain (Applied Research) team, we are seeking a Director level candidate to join in our Clark, New Jersey research facility. This role serves two major functions: Leader of the Skin Transformation Application Domain leading on skin care-makeup hybrid products AND as Project Leader, candidate will lead a core team to build novel technology to dramatically improve skin issues such as skin tone, wrinkles and eye bags and formulation leading up to validation through testing and transformation. As an interdisciplinary Innovation Coordinator, this candidate will lead collaboration with different entities within R&I including, discovery and invention domains, Raw Materials etc. to aid in the development of disruptive technology using novel materials and/or processes, and Development labs for downstream technology transfer and support for product launch.
The candidate will work in a team-oriented environment with strong collaboration within R&I globally, to ensure a smooth transition of products and technology from upstream departments to the development team. This candidate will have strong personal/communication skills, as this role will interact with several different groups on both a local and global level in order to establish new deliverables as well as support the natural progression of product development.
As a Director in Skin Transformation Application Domain, your main responsibilities are:
- Create project vision, leading cross-functional project team.
- Develop robust technical approach & project plan with team
- Connect to global hubs to ensure technical path is successful and aligns with strategy of project
- Work closely and collaborate with various departments (Innovative Raw Materials, Discovery and Invention Domains, Packaging Innovation, etc) to identify new raw materials and new technology platforms for new skin transformation hybrid products.
- Develop good knowledge of competitor’s patent environments and implement patent strategies to safeguard internal technologies.
- Communicate and present technologies effectively to different global functions within the company
- Lead project team to deliver on defined milestones
- Work closely with development labs to ensure a smooth transition of new products and technologies.
To Succeed in this Position, You Have:
- Masters or Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, biological engineering, material science, surface and interface science, physical chemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science is required
- 10-12 years of post-graduate experience (Masters)/ 5-7 years of post-graduate experience (PhD) required
- People management experience (direct reports) required
- Experience in biomedical /dermatological /cosmetic industries preferred
- A demonstrated ability to lead and direct projects is expected.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Highly entrepreneurial and able to leverage technical innovations from other industries or product categories
- Be able to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative and self-motivated. Able to think out of the box and willing to take an extra step to get the job done.
- Foreign language skills such as French is a plus.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
